Singing songs to God is not all there is to worship; it is merely one way to express our worship to Him. True worship can be found in Romans 12:1, "I urge you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship."
Real worship is when we live and sacrifice ourselves to God. The choices we make each day about what is right and wrong shows who or what we worship. We give our time, our energy, our passion to what we worship.
Worship is about what we value. Everybody values something. Everybody is a worshipper. We all worship something. Whatever is most valuable and worth the most to us is what we worship. God wants us to value Him more than anything.
Worship is an appropriate response to the greatness of God. That means living our lives in such a way that our lives demonstrates our affection for God. So we worship God with our lives, not just by singing songs.
Praise is simply telling God how great He is to us. We praise Him for who He is . . . His character. We can praise Him verbally by telling Him how much we love Him, we can praise Him with actions like bowing before Him, raising our hands, or performing acts of love and kindness in His name, and we can praise Him through singing or playing instruments for His glory.
